Blue Flag to Cattolica!
27 Agosto 2008
“…finché vedrai /sventolar/bandiera gialla…’ **
…that is what Gianni Pettenati sang in his famous song, and in Rimini a disco has been named after that!
However, no: it is not Yellow, but blue, the color of the flag that Cattolica has been showing off, with pride, for more than a decade.
The Blue Flag is an exclusive eco-label awarded to over 3300 beaches and marinas in different countries across the World.
It works towards sustainable development at beaches/marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, and safety and other services.
For the standards of the FEE, there are two different Blu Flag awards:
- Water quality
- Environmental manegement & safety and services
It’s been a long time since Cattolica, too, has been deserving the “blue stamp”, not because overpraising, but because assuring high quality standards, sapiently melting attention for nature and interest for tourist.
Beaches of this cute town of Romagna boast of numberless, impeccable services: let’s just think to separate garbage collection; photovoltaic panels; recovery of water of showers to irrigate; involvement of guests through eco-initiatives such as the “ecobeachday” (an event sponsored by ARPA EMILIA ROMAGNA), but still gyms, catering areas or relax areas etc…
And do not forget the traditional lifeguards: true institution of the Riviera, whose job is not just rescuing, but often also includes animation of bathers.
Indeed: ready to welcome you… the women (oh, sure: all women!) of Alberghi delle donne: “all pink” hospitality, then warm, welcoming as if you had never moved from home!
These Hotels, located in Cattolica and Gabicce, guarantee a personalized service, according to one’s needs,his\her style: family-vacations, or holiday between friends… holiday for women who love sport or for manager-women… and, certainly, a nice excursion in the neighborhood is ready for you!
In the end, in the age of consumerism and of global warming, how about thinking to “smart vacation”: which does not mean leaving in low season to avoid traffic or crowdy beaches, but rather the one that allows everyone, from grandpas to kids, to have fun and to feel home in respect of the nature.
* Some people use to think that number 13 is a bad-luck number!
** “till you will see a Yellow Flag waving…” (”Bandiera Gialla - Yellow Flag” : a famous Italian song from the 80’s, sang by Gianni Pettenati).
