Vladimir Luxuria, artist and former parliamentarian, boasts two primacies.
First transgender of the Italian Parliament, she is also the first politician of the television reality show “L’isola dei Famosi” (The isle of famous people).
From the “Transatlantico”, the hall for the intervals of parliamentarians, to the little island of Honduras, the set of the reality show of Rai Due channel, it seems to be there, and actually there is, an ocean.
But if to cross it there is Vladimir Luxuria, who can swim by little but has already the wind in her sails, any distance disappears.
Actress and drag queen, Vladimir Luxuria, whose real name is Vladimiro Guadagno, has begun her theatrical career at the “Taverna del Gufo”, in Foggia, where she was born.
In Rome, she has a degree in languages, with a first, has played for cinema, and has performed at the “Muccassassina”, the historic gay night-club for which she has also been artistic director.
She has come to the tv through Maurizio Costanzo Show, has worked for Radio Capital and has published the story of her life with the prestigious edition Bompiani (“Chi ha paura della Muccassassina?”).
Her artistic engagement has always been accompanied by the civil engagement too: she has joined the movement for the rights of the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender), in 1994 she has organized the first italian Gay Pride, and in 2006 she has been elected in the lists of Rifondazione Comunista.
Long asked by Simona Ventura, Vladimir Luxuria has finally been recruited for “L’isola dei Famosi 2008”, with the declared intention of making the Italians know the situation of transgenders.
Vladimir has faced the controversies that have accompanied her arrival at the island, with the weapons of courage, intelligence and irony.
Now she seems to be responsible for the good mood of the castaways: natural and at her ease under the spotlight, she is giving evidence of her comical talent and is plotting funny situations.
She said that she is not interested in winning, but we of Alberghi delle Donne look at her like a candidate in the lists of victory.
Because she has been employed by politics but she belongs definitely to show.
