Wellness therapies: new feminine trends
27 agosto 2008
The super active Italian women that have to divide themselves between professional and family commitments and that do not give up the care of themselves, their own psychophysical wellness, are in sensible increase.
If you take into consideration in the complex gyms, aesthetic centres, creams, cosmetics and machinery to sculpture your body, you discover that the business generated by the sector has abundantly surpassed 20 billion of euros.
No sense of guilt if always more women dedicate some hours a week, a weekend or maybe an entire week holiday to the cure of their own body and “soul”.
Where? In the wellness centres and the thermal baths. Desire of cuddles, pleasure, relax, desire to set aside a moment for themselves and abandon the frenetic rhythms even for a little…these are the reasons that push us, women, (and not only) to turn to these centres and ask for wellness therapies such as face and body massages and so many practises borrowed from the Orient.
More than one hundred types of these massages exist, from Shiatsu (Japanese) to Ayurvedic (Indian), from the Underwater massage that is carried out with jets of water, in mineral showers and baths, to the Swedish one, gentle muscle manipulations with the use of apposite oils, used to improve blood circulation.
Many treatments for face and body, foresee the use of argil, rich in minerals or in various types of algae, green, red, brown, that because of the principles of hydration, detoxication and nutrition give benefit to the skin.
In case of contracted muscles or joint pains, it is possible to receive a relaxing action from Chinese medicine with the Moxibustiontherapy, which consists in moving a stick of artemisia (a slow combustion herb) close to the skin; once lit the stick heats the treated area. To regain relax, an ancient Indian practise, the “Dhara Taylam”, that is a trickle of medicated oil that goes down the forehead and stimulates the functional centres that produce endorphins.
You then arrive to the thalassotherapy, which uses the substances coming from the sea, as mud-baths, algae, sand and salt water, practised in many centres in Italy and abroad; aromatherapy, holistic treatment (able to involve body and mind) that exploits the benefits of the perfumed essential oils. And again, wine therapy, detoxicant and slimming, or food regime programmes with medical supervision. Finally, the “hot stone” treatment, coming from North America, practised with volcanic hot stones, for the cure of some psychosomatic symptomatologies.
All these treatments can be practised by combinations in formulas remise en forme, revitalising and relaxing holidays, but also for dietary, anti-acne, anti-stress, postpartum, and post-operation treatments.
Also the Hotels are adapting themselves to the needs of the clients that, also during holiday (and for many people especially in this period), wish to relax and indulge in some wellness therapy. In the congress Hotels, wellness centres are increasing, they have anti-stress programmes studied ad hoc for the business clientele, and the meeting & wellness packages that unite to the work meetings, moments dedicated exclusively to the care of themselves.
A business trip, in fact, is almost always cause of stress and pressure for the business clientele, that always more often indulges in some esthetical and curative cuddles to find relaxation and interior balance.
Observing the regular visitor of the beauty centre of the Hotel, we came to the conclusion that there are still differences of customs and traditions between one population and another. Italians still live this experience rather like breaking the rules, while the American client and, in general, people from northern Europe, start going to the centre from 6 in the morning. Moreover, women arrive knowing precisely which treatments and cures they desire, while men are more curious and willing to try a little of everything.
Alberghi delle Donne have in great consideration the concept of wellness also during holiday and have studied ad hoc programmes for women’s needs, both if they are travelling for business and if they are only tourists. Included in the cost of the sojourn, the associated Hotels propose the best esthetical treatments and free make up lessons carried out by an expert beautician who is at the guest disposal and a line of quality products for face and for make up.
