Emma, we are.

marcegaglia1.jpgThere is always a first time and, in this case more than ever, we would like to add fortunately. In fact, if there are choices that let us hope for well, Emma Marcegaglia first woman president of Confindustria has what it takes to be one of them.
Born in Mantua in 1965, the entrepreneur is accustomed to primacies with the association of Italian industrialists: in 1996, thirty, she was the first woman to set foot in the head office of Astronomy street. She entered with a role of responsibility, as president of young industrialists, and in the years she has held the most prestigious positions at European level. In recognition of her dazzling career, and of the esteem and trust that she has been able to conquer, she is now designated as head of Confindustria. And here there are three primacies at once: sex, age, and the plebiscite of the highest percentage of votes ever reached (99.2%).
She said she is “very excited, happy, proud”. She considers her appointment as “a symbol for all women” and indicates in low female employment one of the problems of the development in Italy.

She has a curriculum keys (of the office) in hand. Honours degree in Business Administration at Bocconi University, Master in Business Administration at New York University, she has not spent her energies only for Confindustria: among many other tasks, she is CEO of the family firm, wife and mother!
People call her “Steel Lady” because she is the daughter of Steno Marcegaglia, European leader of steel processing, but also for her determination. The CEO of Fiat, Sergio Marchionne, said about her that she “is very good”. Her closest collaborator that she “is able to listen.” She that she “is aware to be lucky”. We that she seems to be completely aware.
Her passion for watches will then mean something… Has she made a pact with the hands? Or has she shot ahead? President Emma, with the courage of her first statements in women favour, seems a good chance in a time when Italy really needs being no (more) a country for old men.
